Tests

This is where I will physically note down the dates and results, as well as assigned rules for each of the tests that I will be completing with an array of audiences. Externally within ‘Notebook 5’ I will be collected opinions and notes from each of the players that had been present within the experience.

I will be taking images and posting them upon the games Instagram account per test.

I personally believe that you should test board games obsessively while the process is on going with creation. It is understandable that you will never obtain the perfect – unflawed – game, but you can attempt to come close with the amount of play through you can do. To do this, even though my target audience is that of Key-Stage 2 students, I want to be able to have the families play it, meaning that adults and younger adults should be able to find joy within the experience to a degree also. This is simply a smaller wish to obtain, but for now the hope to get it to an educational standard.

Colour assignment to each God/Goddess throughout testing phases:

  • Hades – Grey
  • Zeus – Baby Blue
  • Hera – Purple
  • Demeter – Green
  • Poseidon – Dark Blue
  • Hestia – Red
  • Claimable Tokens – Gold/Yellow

Test one (Recorded until number 3 within the book):

(Shown in Notebook 5, Pages 8 – 12)

Rules:

You are given a small handful of cards before the game starts, on your rounds you are able to either pick up 5 coins or 2 cards and 2 coins.

Cards either being from the shown or from the face-down deck.

Nine rounds.

Packing up tokens or cards is considered one action, if you are effecting the board that is another action and you are then unable to pick up tokens or cards.

Matching card shapes to the required symbols upon the board to try and claim an area, once you have claimed an area you are able to place a coloured token that is dedicated to your specific playable God/Goddess.

If you have effected the board and you have already got a previously claimed area, you are able to also place another golden token upon it to strengthen your defences.

If you are attempting to claim another players area it will cost you the recourses and the number of tokens present upon their area.

Picking up cards, within the cards there are ones that have ‘X’ upon it, which is considered an instant play card that has a negative effect upon the board. It would clear 1 layer of tokens upon the board.
